Verification
How does photo verification work?
When you take a photo with Vidimu, the app creates a 14-character code and registers it with our verification server together with the capture time, the location and two fingerprints of the image. The code is printed on the photo as vidimu.com/v/CODE.
Anyone who has the photo can open that address, or enter the code on our home page or at verify.vidimu.com, to see when and where it was taken. They can also select their copy of the photo to check whether it matches the original. That check runs in their browser: only fingerprints are compared and the photo is not uploaded.
The verification page says the photo was taken offline. What does that mean?
The photo was taken without an internet connection, or its record reached our server later than usual. The record is still valid, but our server cannot confirm that the photo was taken at the time shown. It can only confirm that the record existed by the time it reached us.
Records of photos taken offline are sent once the phone is back online. For the strongest proof, take photos with a working connection when you can.
A code is “not found”. What should I do?
First compare the code with the photo character by character. Codes have 14 characters and never contain the letters I or O or the digits 0 or 1, so a character that looks like one of them is a different one (for example 2 or Z).
If the code is correct, the photo may have been taken offline and not registered yet. Ask the person who took it to connect their phone to the internet and open Vidimu, then try again a little later.
Why does my copy of the photo not match exactly?
An exact match needs the original file. Messaging apps, e-mail programs and social networks often resize or recompress photos, which changes the file. The verification page can still tell whether a recompressed copy looks the same as the original, but it will not count as an identical file. Ask the sender for the original file if you need an exact match.
Who can see the time and location of my photos?
Anyone who has a photo’s code, which is printed on the photo, can see the capture time and the precise location recorded for it. The verification page only shows a record to someone who enters its code. The device ID and image fingerprints are never shown. If the place where a photo was taken must stay private, do not share that photo.
Can I use Vidimu without sharing my location?
Yes. Turn off Profile › Save location in the app, or do not give Vidimu location permission. The app then does not read your location, the watermark shows “Location off”, and your photos still get a verification code with the capture time, but without a location.
Your photos and data
Where are my photos stored?
On your phone first. Without an account, your photos, videos and records stay on your phone. For verification, only the code, the capture time, the location (if location is on), image fingerprints, a random device ID and technical details such as the app version are sent to our server in Türkiye; the photo itself is not. If you sign in and use cloud backup or a team workspace, your photos, videos and records are also uploaded to our servers in Türkiye. See the Privacy Policy.
I lost my phone or deleted the app. Can you restore my photos?
It depends. Without an account, your photos are stored only on your device and we do not have a copy of them, so please save important photos to your gallery or export them regularly. If you were signed in and your files were backed up (cloud backup or a team workspace), you can download them again from the web panel at app.vidimu.com. The verification records on our server stay valid either way, but they do not contain the photos.
How do I delete my data?
Data on your phone is deleted when you delete it in the app or uninstall Vidimu. To delete your account, your uploaded content or verification records, see Delete your account and data or write to [email protected].
Does Vidimu show ads or track me?
The free plan shows ads from Google AdMob. On iOS the advertising ID is used only if you allow tracking; on Android you can delete or reset it in your device settings; in the EEA, UK and Switzerland a consent form asks first. Pro and Team have no ads. Vidimu contains no other third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. This website uses no cookies. See our Privacy Policy.
Plans and availability
When can I download Vidimu?
Vidimu is coming soon to the App Store and Google Play. This page will link to the stores once the app is available.
How much does Vidimu cost?
There are Free, Pro and Team plans, purchased through the App Store or Google Play. The price is shown in the app, in your local currency, before you subscribe. Team plans are sold by number of seats (5, 10, 15, 20 or 25).
Do I need an account? What are team workspaces and the web panel?
An account is optional: you can take photos and verify them without one. With an account you can use cloud backup (Pro plan) and team workspaces. Team admins manage projects, members, file access per project, tasks and templates from the web panel at app.vidimu.com.
